Sarah Tareen is an award-winning filmmaker whose work explores youth, resilience, and stories across the Global South.
Her films amplify voices often excluded from dominant narratives — with a focus on underrepresented communities in Pakistan and beyond.
Before producing her first feature film, which was released in cinemas across Pakistan in 2014, Tareen collaborated with leading international broadcasters and institutions including Channel 4, The Norwegian Film Institute, and Creative Europe.
Her latest documentary, Kids Fight, co-produced with VICE Media, was filmed over eight years and follows young fighters growing up in one of Lahore’s most marginalised neighbourhoods. The film has received critical acclaim for its raw, intimate portrayal of survival, identity, and ambition.
Tareen’s work has been recognised by Cannes Lions, D&AD, The One Show, ADC, London International Awards, and the Clios, among others.
She has also spoken on global platforms as a TEDx speaker, and was chosen as the face of Maybelline Pakistan’s Make It Happen campaign — a celebration of boundary-breaking women in media and culture.
